From Austin with Love

Yesterday I posted a few pics from the beginning of my Memorial Day weekend in Texas. We began in Houston, indulging in scrumptious libations and delectable eats (check it out here). Today, we will be drooling over the inspiring cuisine of good old Austin.

After surprising my baby brother at his place Friday morning, we scooted over to South Congress Ave to enjoy the local flavor. Perla’s Sea Food and Oyster Bar was our first stop.

We were greeted with sinful fried corn fritters. They were amazing.

I forgot to take pics of all the other food, but there may or may not have been some criss-cut fries on our table as well. I guess you will never know if my lack of photos was intentional, or not.

Nest stop, dinner at Takoba, where the lovely Brittany (my brother’s roommate) is a server and bartender. We ordered an abundance of guacamole and some spicy mango-habanero margaritas to get to party started!

They have an adult sandbox full of adirondack chairs and fun, pick-nick inspired outdoor seating

I ordered the vegetarian tacos with grilled corn, sweet potatoes and a side of cactus…Our whole crew after dinner…venturing out to the House Bars for an evening of more F.U.N. And last, but not least, Keaton’s birthday dinner at La Condesa. In one word, amazing. First of all, the atmosphere was incredible. Because this is where my brother works, we were treated like ROYALTY! Nearly as soon as we sat down a round of Clase Azul Reposado Tequila was brought to our table with guacamole and salsa tastings, taco platters, and ceviches…I was almost too full to order! We also enjoyed roasted corn on the cob, some of the best I’ve ever had, and a few amazing desserts to finish off the meal.

The chili rellenos where stuffed with quinoa…so good! And so, after three full days of incredible food and fun with family & friends, it was time to head back to San Francisco, where I was greeted with two lovely days of rain. I had so much fun in Texas and will miss y’all – xoxo

As a D-1 collegiate athlete with a background in nutrition and anatomy, and an internship with a naturopathic center for healing, I found myself wanting to help people achieve healthier, happier lives. Currently, I live in LA and am training with Dharma Mittra to obtain my 500 hour yoga certification.
