Sweet Potato Chips

You ready for this? One of my new “approved” dinner’s on the Dharma Mittra yoga training diet plan is GUACAMOLE…awe who am I kidding, new dinners. I eat guac like it was crack coated in peanut butter and dipped in dark chocolate! Anyway, I needed something other than raw veggies to use as a vessel for my guac because you can only eat/juice/blend so many raw veggies in a day. That’s right folks, the “reject” list for the Dharma diet includes processed foods like chips, bread, pita and pasta!

I like veggies, but sometimes you just want a chip. Introducing the sweet potato chip:

  • 1 Raw sweet potato, washed
  • Olive oil
  • Sea Salt
  • Thyme

  1. Slice the sweet potato with skin as to about 1/8 an inch thick (I like mine a bit more substantial)
  2. Toss in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil until each slice is lightly coated
  3. Place one layer thick on an ungreased baking sheet
  4. Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes, flip chips to the other side & bake another 10.
  5. Let cool and sprinkle with sea salt and fresh thyme.
  6. Plant a massive scoop of guac on that chip and chow down!

About Caley Alyssa

As a D-1 collegiate athlete with a background in nutrition and anatomy, and an internship with a naturopathic center for healing, I found myself wanting to help people achieve healthier, happier lives. I quickly came to realize that I wanted to work with preventative therapeutic methods promoting active, energetic lifestyles rather then focusing on treatment centered around prescription drugs and the increasingly paramount “band-aid” mindset. In 2006, I moved to San Francisco and began to study yoga completing a 200 hour training with Yoga Tree. From there I've studied with Shiva Rea and obtained a certification to work with children and at risk youth. In 2010, my quest to bring health and happiness to others lead me to enroll with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York to become a holistic health coach. Currently, I live in LA and am training with Dharma Mittra to obtain my 500 hour yoga certification. I love to share my lifelong journey of finding balance, wellness and happiness in all aspects of life!
